Yes, thank you, I am well-educated, well-read, reasonably cultured and intelligent. I'm also hard-working, talented and thrifty. I cannot understand why anyone would think that would automatically make me well-off. I know lots of others who are very much like me.
There are few jobs that pay writers a living wage, and in my experience, none of them want to hire a woman in her 50s. I've given up. Nobody is ever going to hire me. Making a thousand dollars a month on Medium the last few months has been life-changing for me. We are celebrating Christmas this year. I was able to purchase a coat, boots, mittens and hat for my granddaughter's birthday. That was so gratifying. Last year each child got one book.
There is very little correlation between money and intelligence/culture/education. There might even be an inverse correlation -- I know a whole lot of crass, stupid, lazy people who are rich.
