Wow. You really bought into the idea that children are just for women to deal with. Men SHOULD be involved. I’ve never been to a shower where alcohol was served; maybe check what circles you’re moving in. Young parents often could use some help obtaining the infant care items. I’m delighted to celebrate a new baby and to wrap up some onesies etc.
