Why not look for people who are NOT self-serving? Why not establish ethical rules? I was shocked that what that person did was considered acceptable. I've read several instances of that person telling the story from that person's POV, and it's clear that person is stung that I felt what happened was highly unethical.

I come from the newspaper world, where ethics rules were very strict. For example, most papers had a rule that you couldn't accept a gift valued beyond a cup of coffee. When I was the editor of a daily paper, you can bet I enforced those ethics rules.

If you want to charge people for coaching services, fine. But if you're also the person with the power to make a submission seen or not seen, it's really not ethical to imply you might be able to help them ... for a price.

That's my opinion.
