Where do you live? From where I sit, things do suck just as much as he says. You're mixing up average and median. The average is thrown off by the few very wealthy people,so median is a better measure:

I'm a college-educated professional who has never made more than $40K in my life, and I am NOT unusual. I'm so tired of hearing people talk about the average income. It's misleading.
