What Does Your Follower Ratio Say About You?
And why are you here right now?
If you look at many of the top Medium writers, you’ll see they are followed by many but follow few back.
Here are a few examples:
- 183K followers; follows 573
- 116K followers; follows 297
- 48K followers; follows 447
- 6.9K followers; follows 433
- 73K followers; follows 10
Meanwhile, here I am with 2.4K followers … and I follow 4,061.
That’s right. I follow way more people than who follow me. I’m far from being a top writer here, but I’m doing fine.
The last two months I managed to make more than a thousand bucks here. I hope to make $1K this month, too. I have eight referred followers from whom I make $17.90 each month.
I don’t know if I’ll be able to continue this, but I’m pleased with how well I’m doing. I set up Medium a couple of years ago, wrote a handful of pieces, abandoned it, and then started publishing (nearly) every day in March. With this story, I’ve published 202 pieces on this platform — plus nearly 4K responses. (I have opinions, OK?)
