Well, I’ll tell what I have always told every kid considering journalism: DO NOT DO IT unless you cannot possibly find anything else you want to do it.
And then I tell them frankly about what it’s really like to live in poverty while writing for all different publications and platforms and squeezing in time to write books in between.
If they still want to do it after that, so be it.
