We have the strongest, largest military in the world, by far. And I know how to shoot a gun. If I wanted/needed to, I could defend myself in this way. You're right; I would not fare well in a fistfight. But that's not how wars are usually fought anymore. Women can fly planes, shoot guns, launch missiles, etc.
