Update: Had to resort to Instacart today. We’re in rough shape with Covid. I warned them I was sick and needed no-contact delivery. I was nervous bcz I’ve never had a good experience with this. Shopper said, “don’t worry! I’ve done over 950 orders without a problem!”
Spoiler: There were problems. They came to my Pest House like four times trying to get it right. They came back to collect a package of chicken parts that was supposed to go to someone else. Then some sausage that wasn’t mine. Then I called them back to report I was missing stuff. I gave back carrots, chicken and sausage. They charged me for some things I didn’t want and others I didn’t get. It was a complete cluster. Need I note I didn’t have the energy for this? And that someone out there got a bag of Covid Chicken! I doubt they’d be happy knowing their food was in my germy house. Finally called Instacart. I told the guy I would appreciate it if he could please help me, I told him I was very sick and had already been dealing with this all morning. He said he had to put me on hold. I said, “please don’t jerk me around!” He said not to worry, he’d be right back, and that we would not be cut off, but if it did happen, he’d call me RIGHT BACK. That was the last I heard of him, obviously.
The next person eventually was better, but she wanted me to read off an insanely long number. I said, “in addition to covid, I also just had cataract surgery and there’s no way I can read that. You REALLY need that?” She did. Had to wake up my even sicker husband, who at least can see. At one point, I was just openly sobbing. So frustrating. I just wanted food and medicine. Eventually, I called my son and he delivered the stuff we needed.
