Unfortunately, some people like to recreate the foods they grew up with. My husband has been a vegetarian for more than 40 years! But he doesn’t like/can’t handle spicy food, which is what I usually turn to for vegetarian dishes. He is picky. So I end up trying to recreate traditional Dutch meat and potatoes meals, which means using a fair amount of Quorn products. I can make spaghetti with “meat” sauce easily. I’ve dabbled in vegetarianism so many times and could never make it stick. I probably would do better if my husband wasn’t a vegetarian! I’d choose spicy veggie dishes he simple can’t digest. Aesthetically and ethically, I’d prefer not to use highly processed meat substitutes, but they work for him. With them, he’s been a healthy vegetarian for decades. He can work circles around meat-eaters half his age. So these products do have a place.
