This is so insane to those of us living in places like central Illinois! You can have an entire house that you will own for far less than your rent. I have a safe, walkable neighborhood close to a couple of decent restaurants and bars, a grocery store and drug store, most governmental offices and the riverfront. I also have a big house with a yard. I cannot imagine paying so much in rent. Best of all, my house is not far from being paid for.
