There is indeed plenty of blame to go around when it comes to slavery. Imagine trying to argue in favor of it! Yet this was a mainstream view at some times and in some places ... which is very hard to understand. But then, we used to also think it was perfectly OK for young children to work in mills, for men to beat their wives, etc. ... Some people still believe in all these things.
