That’s frankly horrifying to me. Just absolutely unbelievable that anyone feels that way.
Giving your child a good start is your job. Pushing them out so they are in desperate circumstances for some arbitrary reason makes zero sense to me.
My son was able to pay off his student loans and car and save up an emergency fund by living home longer. He’s in fantastic shape now and will likely be able to retire early as a result. If he’d been paying almost everything he made for an apartment, he’d still owe tons instead of having lots of savings. His entire life trajectory is significantly better because he got a solid start.
I don’t expect to change your mind. Just putting this out there for others’ benefit.
Kicking your kid out at an arbitrary young age is not a good way to launch your child.
