That sounds like a great book idea. That’s a very hot subject right now. I would identify some big names in the movement and include info about them. Talk about their off-grid experiences briefly. Get some endorsements. Identify and follow thought leaders on Twitter and post tidbits as you write the book. Build an audience first! You have to have some people be able to see your name and think, oh, she’s that off-grid lady. Think about the title. Is the book about going off-grid, the environment, escaping rat race, rejecting American exceptionalism, survival, adventure, etc.? Will you talk about parenting off-grid? (Off Grid Kids is one potential!) Will you explain technical info about how to do it or will this be like a travelogue people will just read and dream about? Research other books on similar subjects and see how they’ve sold (easy to do) and think about what keywords you’re going to write around. You have to think about marketing BEFORE you write it. No, I don’t like that one bit, either. But you could write this book a thousand different ways. Figure out the one way. I suggest you write the blurb FIRST. That will keep you on track. (Carried away. Love this stuff!)
