Thanks. You're a must-read for me.

I cannot figure out for the life of me why the GOP has not crumbled into dust. Even my rich friend Berlin (the one I say was assigned Republican at birth) is done with the GOP after Jan. 6. She feels there is no party for her anymore and she is right.

The only thing I can think is that the GOP has been VERY good at creating fake crises that the Democrats supposedly are guilty of. You know, we groom kids to be trans and perform the surgery when they're like 5. We want to send rapists in dresses into women's restrooms to assault them. And of course, we kill full-term babies when mothers change their mind halfway through labor and decide they want to have an abortion after all. Happens all the time, ya know!

Plus, I think it's like peer pressure. If all the other kids are drinking beer at the party, you might try it. If all the other Republicans around you are saying the stuff Trump did is actually fine, maybe you'll accept it, too.

Also: Can you think of an example in which the Dems have vilified the GOP for something they haven't actually done? The GOP claims the Dems do all kinds of insane stuff that anyone with half a brain knows isn't true, but their people suck it right up. What have the Dems claimed? The GOP thinks our outrage at their actual bullshit is equivalent to their outrage at our only-in-GOP-imaginations transgressions.
