Thanks for that perspective, but still ... the fact remains that when I was a kid living on my fast-food job that paid $3.35 per hour in 1986, I was able to write a check for my kitten to be neutered, to have several teeth pulled and to get the pills for his epileptic seizures -- and that if I needed all this for an animal now, decades after finishing college, I'd be in trouble.
