Some years ago a friend of mine was working for the UN, fell in love with a guy in Ethiopia and married him. He said, “I feel sorry for you Americans. You don’t have any good food!” I’d been raised to feel sad about the starving Ethiopians, so this was startling. But he’s right —we eat a lot of boxed and canned shit.
