I have a different stance on this symbol. I’ve never understood the allegiance; it’s always felt a bit cultish to me. Even in grade school, it was weird that we had to stand up, put our hand over our heart and repeat the same devotion every day. I didn’t understand why, but I did what I was told. And the idea behind never letting the flag touch the ground, or people losing their minds over the “disrespect” of taking a knee. It all seemed silly to me.
