People do need to write well if they wish to be read. Not everyone can, and that’s ok. The world is full of talented writers who are mostly unread; those who write poorly shouldn’t assume it will be easy for them to find readers when it’s difficult for even very good writers. I think anyone who wishes to build an audience needs to take the time to build their skills first. Quality matters. If I open a restaurant, I want to hire good cooks who have spent time working on their culinary skills, not just anyone.
