Oh my God ... so many of you have read and commented here, and to my absolute HORROR I just noticed that this story was not paywalled, so I'll earn nothing from its first day! I just hastily changed the setting. Never once in my life have I purposely taken down the paywall, but every so often I notice a story is NOT paywalled, and it makes me want to throw up. Not an exaggeration. It feels as if I've flushed precious money down the toilet. To my fellow writers: Does this happen to you? I've written to Medium. I'm hopeful they can find a solution -- one solution would be for me to be more careful. I actually am careful, but sometimes I miss that the settings have changed anyway. This time it happened to be on a story that is doing really well.
