Now dig a goldfish pond in the backyard (make it deep enough for them to overwinter and build a pergola over it. Make the pergola big enough to cover the pond and a seating area. Cover the whole thing with sheet plastic in winter and voila! A winter greenhouse where you can get sun and a bit of outdoor warmth. (Winter just about kills me, too.)
