My kids were born in 1989 and 1992. I knew I wanted to nurse so I attended LLL meetings during my pregnancy, read books and took private childbirth classes. In those days, doctors and hospital nurses gave advice that made it nearly impossible to successfully nurse, so I ignored their poor information. I never needed a drop of formula — which is partly luck and I acknowledge that. But with good information and support, most women can nurse, and I hope all who can, will. Save the limited formula for people who have no other choice.
