Most of us will not have a village. We have to make one. Mine was La Leche League. I met so many other great moms. We all learned from each other and supported each other. I had an easy nursing experience and also learned so much about positive parenting. Few choices in my life have had more impact than deciding to attend those meetings while pregnant. I had my babies in 1989 and 1992, when few people nursed for long. Part of the reason more women nurse now is that our generation pushed hard for change. Much of what I fought for was the norm when my daughter gave birth.
