Medicare does NOT pay for nursing homes except short-term rehab, like after a knee replacement. Social Security doesn’t pay for them, either. Nursing homes are short staffed because they don’t want to pay. It isn’t because people don’t want to do it. Plenty of people would do it if it paid a living wage.
