I've seen that, too. I know people of all income levels from dirt poor on up. I do have one well-off friend who gets it and another really wealthy friend (generational wealth/trust fund-rich) friend who is willing to learn. It helps that I learned to stop being embarrassed about being poor. I know I cannot keep up with them and I don't try.
