I've never lived anywhere but central Illinois, though I've traveled pretty widely. This isn't where I'd choose to be, but it's difficult to escape one's roots. Every place has its pros and cons. We may head to Europe when the grandchildren are a bit older, but then again, we may stay right here. We've customized our old house into a home we love. A lot will depend on how healthy we are in our old age.
