I’ve never been beautiful. I’ve had times when, with great effort, I could approach it. But I’ve not experienced most of what you describe, and I’m glad. I hit the sweet spot of being just attractive enough. I noticed a long time ago that beautiful women get a raw deal. Men always want them for all the wrong reasons. I’m 57 today and I never get cat-called — but I didn’t when I was 17 or 27, either. Beauty is a handicap and I think if I’d had it I’d have downplayed it as much as possible with clothing, makeup and dress. The most beautiful women I’ve known have all gotten nothing but misery from their looks. Men want their bodies but don’t care about their minds. I absolutely think you have reason to complain.
