I've been meaning to write this and you beat me to it! My husband and I do pretty much everything for ourselves. My wealthy friend, however, hires everything out. She mentioned that she "made" Thanksgiving dinner. I was impressed, because I knew she didn't cook. Then she clarified she'd bought it. "But it took a long time to pick everything out and heat it up," she told me.
I have told her there's satisfaction to be had in doing things for yourself -- that cooking with your partner and family is actually a big part of what makes a holiday dinner special. She will never understand.
