It’s good to be aware, of course, of the fact that every intervention comes with risks, and to understand when those risks are worth it.
I badly wanted a totally natural birth with my son — I had a vaginal but medicalized birth (unnecessarily medicalized, long story) with my daughter— but he was a 10-lb footling breech and two external versions failed. So I had a cesarean, which I understood was best in that case, even though the vast majority of cesareans are not, strictly speaking, medically necessary.
