It’s absolutely a driver of income inequality. It affected me.

But when the predominately marginalized populations who cannot work for free are being punished with fewer career opportunities as a result, I have to wonder whether the expectation of performing unpaid labor is just another way to uplift the people in power and keep the rest away from it.
