In the pre-Internet print world, we had clear standards and upheld them routinely. You should, too. Hold out for pieces that are of the quality and voice you want. The rejected people may feel disappointed but should not feel disrespected. It doesn't (necessarily) mean their work is bad, but it's not right for your publication.
