In a book I’m about to publish (The Trailer Park Rules), a guy decides to quit. He makes a mental recording of his last cigarette, which was very satisfying for me, an ex-smoker, to write. I/the character noted every sight, sensation, taste, view and sound. It ties in with one of the themes of the book (memory).
