I’m happy to make the turkey if you’ll wash the dishes. I do like to cook, especially for a crowd.
Yesterday I cooked a turkey for NO REASON except it was partially thawed and I had to. I had just eaten a crap-ton of turkey (see my recent story!) so I got over my distaste of refreezing food. I deboned the whole thing and stuck portioned out meat in freezer. Then I broke the carcass into pieces, submerged it and all the bits of cartilage etc into a stock pot along with carrot, onion and celery. Toward the end I picked thyme and sage outside and the potted rosemary and parsley that’s overwintering in my kitchen and added that. I noticed I was feeling worse and worse over the 3-hour simmer. Tested myself. My first covid. Motherfucker. But I have very delicious and healing stock to drink. So my timing was good.
I didn’t have the strength to do the dishes. Please put on a mask and come over. I’ll give you a quart of the richest, most delicious stock ever.
