I’m an impatient driver. It was worse when I was younger and couldn’t get everywhere I needed to be. I used to die a thousand deaths trying to get to the next thing, and I was impossible, as I just had too much to do. It’s a kindness to let people go by if they wish to drive faster than you — you never know what they might be late for. I had this conversation with a midwife once, who, when she was speeding, was trying to get to a birth! And when people deliberately slowed down or tried to keep her from passing, they didn’t know it, but they were keeping her from getting to a laboring mom. (I was generally speeding for much less important reasons).
