If this were actually true, I’d ardently support capitalism.

The basic assumption of capitalism is that anyone who works hard will earn their keep. The promised reward of capitalism is that anyone who works hard will be able to sustain themselves with a home, raise a family, and send their kids to school. Wash, rinse, and repeat. That’s not what we’re seeing.
