If my income went to $50K per year, I'd be beyond ecstatic. I can't even imagine making that much. I've never come close, even with a college degree and even when I was working 60 hours per week.
It's not very useful to compare incomes in different parts of the world. Those people living on less than $3K U.S. dollars per year will have some kind of shelter -- no shelter is available in the U.S. for that kind of money. The only way I could live on $3K per year would be as a homeless person who begs for food. I'd be subject to arrest for loitering on public property.
