If I'm instantly killed, nothing I do will matter. If I am not near the blast, what I do will matter a lot. I've written pretty extensively about this, but it boils down to making reasonable preparations for short-term survival and understanding how to work with others to survive thereafter. I can hunt, fish, gather edible plants and build a basic shelters if I have to.
