If a child can ask for a glass of water, are they too old for it?

She was precocious soul, who I nursed until she was 18-months old. One day while visiting my mother, as my daughter sat on my lap she tapped my breast and said, “Nurse the baby.” My mother, sitting a few feet away says, “Anybody who can talk like that don’t need to be nursing no more.” At that, I look at my baby and said sweetly, “We don’t do that anymore.” And with that, we were done nursing.
