I used to cover school board meetings for newspapers. These meetings should be boring but sometimes they’re the opposite, usually for really bad reasons. I remember with pride a nut-job right-wing local politician seeing an open seat next to me at a meeting and declaring, “I’m not afraid to sit next to you.” (He looked terrified.) Betting you scared the guy next to you.
