I think the 10 people on an island would function much like a HG group -- everybody can see each other's needs and efforts. Nobody on an island would be like, "No thanks, I don't want to go fishing with you today, but let me know if you catch something. I'm kinda hungry. Well, I'm gonna take a nap now." The challenge is to figure out how to make things work with millions of people.
