I think living at home and saving money is a great strategy, especially for those of us who are lower income. When my son left, he had paid off his student loans and car, saved up a good emergency fund and enough to buy furniture. He’d otherwise still be enriching the banks with interest and barely having any extra. Because he’s debt-free, he’s tucking away a good chunk for retirement. He functioned as a roommate, not a child, and it was a really good experience for all of us. Intergenerational living can work!
