I read a piece a year or so ago in the NYT that I wish I’d kept a copy of. It made the point that politics used to be boring, which was good because the people who can’t be arsed to understand how the sausage is made just stay home and eat what they’re served. It only sounds like a good idea to have everyone interested. It’s not, unless everyone is willing to do the work of understanding how government works. We have all these completely misinformed idiots shouting about shit they know NOTHING about.
