I often start clapping and clap as I go along. I hope that isn't screwing anything up.

My conclusion is that Medium must have tightened up the read time requirements. I know other writers have speculated that if you clap for a story before you reach the end of it, or if you don’t go to the very end beyond the additional stories posted, no read is recorded. Either way, I know that my friends don’t clap and run.
