I loved having babies. My life would not have been complete without experiencing pregnancy, birth and breastfeeding.

Yes, having babies has risks.

I think it's important for women to manage their pregnancies and births if they want to be safe. I am always shocked at how many supposedly feminist women just hand their bodies over to their OB. If the OB wants to induce for a non-medical reason, many women acquiese. The same goes with countless other interventions. No intervention should be performed without medical need.

A lot of the risk comes from the poor way we practice maternal medicine in the U.S.

This is the worst developed country in the world for having babies.
