I live in an area where there are very few Jewish people. How would one know someone's religion unless they mentioned it or wore a religious symbol, etc? I did learn one man I know slightly is Jewish. My first clue was when he said he didn't celebrate Christmas and added "of course," so I finally figured it out. I don't know why he assumed I'd know.

I don't get why you'd want blonde hair "to assimilate" since any number of us have dark hair and no known Jewish heritage. I have never understood this, honestly. I hope you'll take a few minutes to explain. This is something I've always wondered but haven't had anyone to ask.
