I invite you to read Dickens. It’s good stuff. I have read most of his work quite willingly. Yes, the style has changed, but a thoughtful person should be able to enjoy classics. Do you scoff at a Vermeer? It’s dated. So is Marilyn Monroe’s look. Old music that was good when it was written is still good now. So are good books, movies, etc. I’ve read and own both these books. There’s zero question that Dickens is in a whole different class. Nobody is going to be reading her in 100 years. It was a good potato chip read, but full of plot holes.
