And the work houses of the "good old days" were horrible, yes. Women have to work because all the talk about glorifying motherhood is JUST TALK. Society has zero intention of providing enough help to moms and children. Mind you, I loved staying home and nurturing my kids when they were young, and I'm not a fan of daycare. But we've made it pretty clear women are on their own.
