I don't agree with your personification of the left.

The high cost of housing correlates with homelessness. Why are there few homeless people in communities like mine? The housing is cheap! People with modest means can buy a house here. It's generally true that red/conservative areas have cheap housing and therefore less homelessness and blue/liberal areas have expensive housing and therefore more homelessness. Offer cheap housing in big blue cities and homelessness will plummet.
