I DESPISE Ferber. What a cruel, inhumane way to treat a helpless infant. Mine were never left to cry. Every instinct I had told me to nurture them. And you know what? My "coddled" kids ended up a lot better off than the ones traumatized by spending their infancy sobbing alone. So sad.

When I took my son to kindergarten, he casually plopped down on the rug and was about to take off his shoes and get comfy before I whispered the shoes needed to say on. He was FINE. All around him, other children were sobbing and sucking their thumbs. I am sure many of them were raised by parents trying to toughen them up. You cannot toughen up a small child.
