I bet you live in a red state and have had this nonsense fed to you via FOX. The red states LOVE this narrative.

It is not that there isn't violence in inner cities. There is, absolutely. But I am always amazed at how many conservatives are terrified of cities. Spend some in one and you'll find out that in most cases, people who are not involved in crime do not become victims of violent crime. That's not 100 percent true, and I won't claim it is. But if you want to do something about inner-city crime, get the damned conservatives out of office. Elect people willing to spend money on education. Elect people willing to do something about income inequality. Elect people willing to put reasonable gun control in place. Elect people willing to provide funding for drug treatment. Elect people willing to provide funding for free contraceptive so poor families can break the cycle of poverty -- education and a bit of economic stability do wonders for people. I could go on, but I know from your comment that you don't believe a word of it. You probably think we can solve everything by locking up more people.
