I am still at a loss as to how anybody but the wealthy is going to cover their basic living expenses without working. When I'm 67, I will have the princely sum of $1,500 in Social Security to live on, plus whatever I can earn at that age, plus whatever my husband is going to get (his is a big mystery because he has lived and worked in his native country and here). Until then, how do we buy food if we just kick back and relax? A part-time job will not have health insurance. How do we get it? We are already struggling, just as more than half of Americans are. I really do not think that working less is going to make us happier!
